2004 Pontiac Bonneville Car Hard Start Today On Way Home Work Shut Off Several

My car is hard to start and today on the way home from work it shut off several times while driving. I had to drive with one foot on the brake and one on the gas to keep it running, it seemed to be shifting hard also. The car accelerates ok but let off the gas and it stalls, put it in nuetral, turn the key and it starts again.
