My X-Trail 2.2Tdi Sport 04 developed a rattle a couple of months ago when idling, it remains when the clutch is applied but dissappears when I increase the revs over 1000. I took it to the local transmission specialists who advised me to let it develop some more so it can be diagnosed accurately. It has now started to vibrate when I stop accelerating at high or low speeds. It has been suggested by a different garage it could be a motor problem not gearbox (although it sounds like its coming from the gearbox) Any ideas what this could be?
