December 2010, Engine (74k miles used) and 3 (new) coils were replaced, after my car shuttered and shut off on the highway twice ($3200 and without a vehicle for 2 months). A little over a month ago, an idiot rear ended me, pushing me into another vehicle ($4.5k of damage and out of a vehicle for 3wks). Today, I'm driving on the highway, and the car begins to***** and lose speed, despite giving it gas. The "check engine soon" light is flashing, the car is making a ticking noise, and the car feels like it is going to shut off. Luckily, I made it home. The sound seems like it is coming from somewhere low on the car (under carriage), there is no change in electricity (radio/lights are working properly). I'm not sure what the issue is, although I was told that my flex pipe has rusted (hole) and needs to be replaced and I am overdue for an oil change. Could these be the issue?
