Your car does have an in-tank electric pump assembly complete with built in fuel filter. You never want to run on complete empty because then you will run the risk of burning out the pump. The gas in the tank acts as a lubricant for the pump. Here is a guide to help you step by step with instructions in the diagrams below to show you how on your car.

I generally tell people not to go less than an eighth of a tank. Your vehicle has an inspection cover so when ever you need to replace you don't have to drop the fuel tank. I've attached a picture below. Hope this helps and thanks for using 2CarPros.
