2004 Mitsubishi Lancer Car Radio Works Fine On Fm Stations Cannot Get Stations

The car radio works fine on FM stations but I cannot get AM stations. Any ideas for a fix to this problem?

I would consider that whatever issue exists within the radio it might be more cost effective to install an aftermarket unit in there.
