why did my kia suddenly lock up while driving?

i was driving my car 15mph on the street when suddenly the gas pedal and steering wheel locked up. the brake light came on the dash along with a few others. i had to turn off the car and turn it back it on. once i did all the lights were gone and it has worked fine since. what happened?
