Why did my Kia suddenly lock up while driving?

I was driving my car 15mph on the street when suddenly the gas pedal and steering wheel locked up. The brake light came on the dash along with a few others. I had to turn off the car and turn it back it on. Once I did all the lights were gone and it has worked fine since. What happened?
