i have a 2004 jeep liberty V6 3.7 L changed alt bat light still on goes off when started but comes back on could be starter

No, it isn't the starter. Make sure the battery is good. Check to make sure all connections are tight and clean at the battery and the main ground at the engne block. Finally, check the fuseable link between the alt and the battery for damage.
