Runs ok but no power especially up hill, was a load "crack" and an immediate loss of power

Scan for codes and check fuel pressure first to see if there are any sensors and or fuel pressure low causing your no power. Then check intake vacuum if 15" or below suspect a clogged exhaust system.

Before the load crack there was a amber light would come on and flash it was a heater plug light followed by power loss always under load, up hill, switching ignition off and restarting would resolve for a spell

Do what I said in first reply see if there are any engine/trans problems first.
