I replaced the battery and now the car shifts hard going into third gear. Is it possible this is a computer problem?

If the check engine light is on it can be but a scan will tell you. Auto parts do for free. Otherwise it may be a valve body problem.

Thanks, but the car shifted fine before I changed the battery, it only has 32,000 mile on it.

Changing the battery shouldn't' have done anything for trans problem have a local pro look at it.

I had a local pro check it, he told me the dealer needs to reprogram the computer.
