what letter or number in the VIN would tell me if the v6 has an engine shutoff switch to limit damage when the timimg belt shreds? Where would it be located?

8th digit.

there is no valve for the timing belt. it should be changed at 80k. anything past that is asking for trouble.

it is an interference motor. chances of valves being bent are very high
