i have a bad oil pump do i need a special tool to remove it?

ihave it to where it moves a little but wont come loose. please help. my cousin & myself are working on this car for my sister who is in nursing school,so money is tight for taking too a garage for repairs. Thank you

is the sump the bottom oil pan with drain plug?

yes, it must be removed as the pump cover bolts through the bottom.

I have not yet removed it,i will remove it. after i do that will the pump just come off?

With sump off, oil pick up and screen removed the front cover which contains the oil pump will come off.

How did you come to the conclusion the oil pump was bad?

Oil pumps seldom goes bad.

when you start the car up cold it is fine after it warms up ten/fifteen it starts tapping like no oil.
