Parts salesman are not techs. Codes never identify a bad part, just a failed system
what was the code?
Forget about the reverse switch and start with basics

Do you Also happen to know where is the reverse switch on the tranny? It's cuz when I shift into reverse my reverse lights won't turn. I changed the bulbs so I assume it's the switch.

Make sure the fuse is ok first.
It is on top of the trans. 2 wire connector. Get the new one and match it up.
