2004 Hyundai Santa Fe problem with rust

Have a rusted out heatshield around the gas tank. Was told that it would cost $700 to replace. Is it safe to drive with out the heatshield?

it may give you problems if it's really hot outside but it should be ok for now. try a junkyard for a cheaper alternative
