The car only changes from gear 1 to 2nd gear

Tries to get into 3rd jacks and goes back into 2nd gear. what is the problem? i bought a new gear box but the problem has not changed.

What country are you in, the model you mention (matrix) is not in the data base we have access to, i will see if i can do a cross reference.
