there is a whirling/howling sound coming from the tire when I drive. increases until high speed and sound is constant. As you slow down you can hear the howling down also. I did not remember having this issue before. The SuV had GoodYear tires and I changed them to Michelin longtrails. Is the type of tire causing this or something else? Thanks.

Try rotating the tires to see if the noise changes location. Also, a bad wheel bearing could cause the noise too. Check to see if the noise changes when you make turns. If it does, it may be a wheel bearing.
