Hi, I've had this car for 10 years and haven't had any issues with the gearing but since last week I have had problems with gear shifting. I can go from P to R to D, moving forward, but when I try to slide the stick backwards from say D to P, it gets stuck. I can only unstick the shifter if I stick something like a screw driver in the little hole on the shift gear. Performance besides that is fine. I also have another problem with the alarm. The alarm is an after-market alarm that I had installed after I bought the car. About 3 years ago, it randomly does this honking noise 3 times in a row. It'll go honk honk honk (silence) honk honk honk (silence). Always 3 times in succession and up to 9 times. It's not the alarm going off though, just short honks.

Any help with these problems is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I think that maybe your shift lever mechanism has become worn. It may just need replacing. AS for you alarm system I cannot say. I have no idea how the system was installed. I would take it to a pro for diagnosis.
