I recently had a dead battery on my '04 GMC Yukon XL while replacing a front left wheel bearing. After charging the battery which works fine now, the odometer reading was about 20,000 miles more than before the dead battery. What's wrong and how can I fix it?

Try removing and replacing the neg battery cable a couple times to see if it will reset.

Just to add to this one if that doesnt work you probably have a bad body control module it sounds just like the saturn LS model saturns that when you jump started changed the batteries etc the mileage would jump sometimes even hundereds of thousands of miles.I even some that once they jumped like that would advance more miles then you actual drove.

MY DAD USED TO SORTA SAY THE SAME THING, AFTER WE WOULD TOUR THE U.S. IN HIS TRUCK, WHEN HE WENT TO WORK. UPON HIM USING IT A WEEK LATER.

IT FINALLY GOT TO THE POINT OF DISCONNECTING THE SPEEDOMETER CABLE, AND GUESSING OUR SPEED, THEN RECONNECTING IT WHEN WE RETURNED. THIS SEEMED TO KEEP US OUT OF THE HOT SEAT!

'COURSE GAS WAS A LOT CHEAPER BACK THEN, AND WE COULDN'T AFFORD MORE AT THE PUMP. MANY IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD, COMPLAINED ABOUT HOW BAD THEIR GAS MILEAGE WAS?

WELL, I'M SURE THAT'S NOT YOUR PROBLEM.'COURSE, BACK THEN, PAP DIDN'T SEE ONE EITHER!
