I have a 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 its 2wheel drive by the way and I was driving to town yesterday it did fine but then I was leaving town my gears wouldn't shift it would only go to the 2nd gear but when it tried going to the 3rd gear it revved up very bad and said transmission overheated and now my truck is just not wanting to change gears. And my truck keeps saying I need to change my engine oil but I have oil in it. What could this be ?

The "Change Oil" message is calculated by mileage. It doesn't have anything to do with level.

For the transmission problem, first check for a leak and the fluid level. If that is okay, a transmission specialist will check for diagnostic fault codes first, but based on the mileage, the clutch plates may just be worn out and it's time for a rebuild.
