Transfer case is about to blow. Fluid has ran out and gears have ran on no lube. . Need a n ew one. Just wondering if I can still drive it on 2wd instead of 4wd if I take it out? It is in a different town, and want to bring it back to fix. Aproximatly 500 km away

2WD AND 4WD SHARE MANY OF THE SAME SHAFTS AND BEARINGSIN OTHER WORDS THEY ARE NOT TWO SEPARATE SYSTEMS

FOR INSTANCE, IF THE OUTPUT SHAFT BEARINGS ON THE REAR OF THE CASE ARE SHOT.....BOTH 2WD AND 4WD USE IT

CONTINUING TO RUN THIS SHAFT MIGHT MAKE THINGS EVEN WORSE

WANNA SEE WHAT HAPPENED TO MY JEEP'S TRANSFER CASE STARVED FOR LUBRICATION ......'CAUSE I STIRRED UP SOME "TOO MUCH" SILICONE GASKET THE PREVIOUS OWNER "GOBBED IN THERE" WHEN HE REPLACED THE COVERS........IDIOT!.......SAD THING IS, I WAS A-REBUILDING MY TRANNY.....I JUST TOOK OFF THE TRANSFER CASE, THEN RE-INSTALLED IT..............THEN IT HAPPENED........

LOOK AT MY ANSWER, IN THIS ANSWER, I GAVE A WHILE BACK
