starting problem

i have a 2004 GMC savana 2500, that does not start all the times. when i put the key in sometimes i just get the battery light only not crank no nothing, if i wait for 5-40min i could get the check engine light, then i can start the car, after i start the car it is ok as long it is on. can somebody help?

if it won't turn over, check to see if power is getting to starter. if it is it's probalby the starter. also have your battery checked. most auto partsstores do this for free.
