What could be wrong with my transmission?

I have not had any transmission problems with this car. All of a sudden after stopping at a stop sign it goes a few feet then the RPM's start reving up, I pull over and now it will not go into gear at all. I have had transmission problems with cars in the past and they have always giving me a warning that there was going to be a problem with the transmission but this one did not have any signs and was running great until this incident.

If the check engine light is on, have the computer scanned. To me it sounds like there is a problem with pressure being too low in the trans
