noise in manual transmission. It decreases when depressing the clutch pedal.

Does it sound like a bad bearing? If so, the first thing I would suspect is a bad throw out bearing.

I think it might be a bearing sound. It seems louder with my ear against the transmission, then the bell housing.

It's hard for me to tell without being there, but my first guess is the throw out bearing. Have a tech with a trained ear listen to it. He should be able to tell right away.
