A leak is normally referred to an external coolant leak, this can be located with a cooling system pressure test, an internal leak will be a head or gasket problem, this can be check with a head check this is a simple chemical test to check for Co in the cooling system, also head problems will have rough idle, stem or white exhaust and excessive bubbling in the radiator.
