My 2004 Focus (an automatic) starts to vibrate quite a bit when I'm either "slowing down" or "idling in gear". To compensate, I'll often shift to neutral (when possible) and that greatly reduces the vibration. During normal driving, the vibration seems to disappear and reappears only when I'm slowing down.
