my ford f250 super duty is stalling and blowing a huge amount of black smoke from the exhaust

The black smoke indicates a rich fuel mixture. If the check engine light has come on, have the computer scanned to determine what trouble codes are stored. Many parts stores will scan it for free.

As far as possible problems, check the basics. Make sure the air filter is clean. Check to make sure the air inlet is clear. Check to make sure the catalytic converter is clear and not plugging.
