2004 F150 XLT - the led odometer is not lit up making it unreadable at night. Is there a light bulb behind it or does the led panel need to be replaced?

I hate to say it, but it is sealed. You are experiencing what about 80% of others that own these vehicles are dealing with. You can check to make sure the wiring to the inst cluster behind the dash is tight and clean, but chances are it is and the problem is the LED light that has gone bad. The only repair -- replace it.
