2004 ford sport trac wont start. Its turning over good but wont start. I left the hood open for an hr one day and some rain got under the hood. The code that comes up is fuel rail pressure sensor. If I unhook the battery for 15 mins I can get it started but then dies after about 40 seconds. It is blowing out thick white smoke out of the exhaust pipe.

Make sure you press the fuel inertia shut off switch to see if that is causing the no start. It is common for the fuel pumps and fuel rail pressure sensors to stop functioning. If you know your getting enough fuel pressure then I would suspect the fuel rail pressure sensor itself.

Yep, the fuel rail sensor needs to be replaced which will cause this problem. Here is the location so you can swap it out. Check out the images (below). Let us know if you need anything else.
