braking sounds like a jet engine slowing down

I have a focus c-max, 2004 reg with 43k miles on the clock. When braking I have noticed a sound similar to a jet engine slowing down in mid air - do you have any idea what would cause this?

This could be caused by new brake pads that have not worn in yet, keep driving it, it will go away.
