Hello,

The fuel pump relay is called a ASD relay and it is located in the fuse box under the hood.

Here is a guide to help you check the relay as well.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-an-electrical-relay-and-wiring-control-circuit

Check out the diagram (below)

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Cheers, Ken

It is not getting fuel to the fuel rail, this leads me to think it is either the fuel pump of the inertia relay has been tripped. Before I spend a lot of time running all the electrical or pulling the pump I would like to double check the switch but I can not locate it.

Does anyone know where it is located? Thanks

Hello,

There is no fuel cutoff or inertia switch for this truck, there is only a fuel pump relay. Here are the engine and fuel pump wiring diagrams (Below) so you can see for yourself. Before you down vote look at the wiring diagrams. The fuel pump relay is in the last diagram.

Just as another guy you helped with this problem, when I checked term 85 of fuel pump relay I do not have fluctuations in power. It is a steady 12.25 volts. Also, according to the fuse box lid component I had, the relays labeled, 57 Engine Control Relay and 58 Fuel Pump Relay are the ones clicking. No matter what other relays I put in their place, they click as well. It never happens after the truck has sit for about an hour, and in runs great once started. I have downloaded a comprehensive repair manual which has electrical diagrams. When I trace the circuit back it just goes from bgg the battery, through several fuses and ultimately goes to these relays. As of now, I do not know what else to try, but if course I will keeping trudging along.

Those two relays are grounded by the PCM, so to begin with check that the PCM connector #3 is good and tight, that the PCM grounds are good and tight and that the PCM fuses all get twelve volts steady.
Begin with making sure these fuses have twelve volts, the PTC #1 and #19 both in the IPDM, left front of engine compartment.
The ground is g107 and is located right rear of engine compartment and comes from pins 31 and 32 connector 1 of the PCM.

Term #86 will only have power for couple of seconds when key is turned on to prime the pump. Beyond that, it should run on "crank". Have you tried jumpering the fuel pump relay to see if the pump runs? Please advise.

The truck wont start. It does turn over. I have checked all the fuses and relays, they all seem ok. Is there a way to make sure if the fuel pump is bad or not?

Also, you must check for spark too, not just fuel. The most common problem is BOTH fuel and spark missing, usually caused by a defective crankshaft position sensor.

I bought a 2000 dodge ram on the 5-30 and 4 days later I was driving to work, and the truck just quit on me. It hasnt started since. I have replaced the fuel pump, the battery, and looked high and low for a so called cut out switch. Then today I was told that dodge does not use a cut out switch for the fuel pump. My question is if it is not the fuel pump, what is it? The truck was driving just fine, it was not sluggish, no noises, nothing noticeable before this happened. However, after it quit on me, I noticed that my fuel gauge stopped working. It doesnt register at all. All my other electrical settings work, the truck is getting fire, via spark plug, battery etc. I found out that this truck does not have a module in the distributor, so what can it be? Someone told me that there is a relay for the fuel pump, if so where is it located, I already took a relay labeled fuel system to auto zone and they were unable to order this relay from their vendor said it is no longer available. I changed the relay out with another relay fuse with the same type of prongs and that was not the problem. The customer rep at the auto parts store said to look for the cut out switch and reset it and this may be my problem. Can you please advise me. I am at wits end and not sure what to fix next. Should I just give up and call it a lemon and cut my losses?

You have verified spark is present, now fuel is in question? When you turn the key on, but not cranking, do you hear a hum for a few seconds from the fuel pump?

What size engine? 5.9?

What series truck? B1500?

Have you checked for codes?
