engine makes a rather loud noise

wife is experiencing a problem with her oil system in that it (engine) makes a rather loud noise then the engine light comes on and engine temp goes up. This has happened prior. I've verified the oil level, has had a recent oil change. No oil pressure gauge to monitor hile driving. Called from road side both times

Check the actual oil pressure with a mechanical gauge to rule out the oil pump and engine bearings

ok gauges i have plenty of, where do I connect the hose up to to verify the pressure?

At the oil pressure sending unit-removed and install the gauge
