I own a 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. My Service Engine Light Soon has been coming on for the past 2 weeks. My husband took it somewhere and they said it was the camshaft sensor. They told me that it needed to be serviced but it could wait until after the Holidays. Today the water temp went to the highest mark on the gauge. I barely drive my vehicle. When I do it is no more then 2 miles at a time. Could they be related or are they 2 different problems and it is safe to drive? Thanks.

Have the computer scanned for code/s-you have a problem within the engine management system that caused the CEL to turn on-This is your starting point of diagnosis, finding out what's going on.

If there's a problem with the cam sensor you'll be getting these symptoms

Symptoms can include:

†Hard starting or no start
†Rough running / misfiring
†Loss of engine power

Also check the thermostat
