2004 chey suburban, on my tail lights on trailer, the night lights do not work, but the turn signals and brake lights do. Where do I start????

check the bulbs first as the turn and brake circuit use a different filament than the regular lights. then check the ground to thetruck from trailer as well as see if lights are getting power. It may be the brown wire for the lights, and green and yellow for turn signals.
