My 2004 Chevrolet truck makes a knocking sound when started. When the truck warms up the knock goes away.

Usually it's either the crankshaft journal or bearing, or a connecting rod/wrist pin on one or more cylinders. After the oil pressure build sufficiently the knock diminishes, but if a stethocope is used, the knock is still present!
