I am preparing to replace the front brake pads and rotors on my 2004 Chevrolet Silverado Z 71. I have replaced brakes in the past on similar vehicles a 2003 Yukon and 1999 Sierra Z 71 but on the Yukon it developed ABS problems after I did the work. My question is I have seen two conflicting ways of doing the work on "how to videos " . One shows that I need to use hose clamp pliers to crimp the brake hose off and open the bleeder when compressing the calipers. This is supposed to prevent damage and contamination to the ABS system, which I had with the Yukon . I have read and been taught that crimping these lines can cause damage to the inner liner of rubber brake lines causing soft pedal and premature failure of the brake hose , it also means I will need to bleed the system ( a pain in the rear )
I want to do it the correct way , I have purchased delco advantage rotors and pads , I just don't want any further issues to develop later.

I just remove some fluid from master prior to moving calipers in. abs systems shold be bled every two years anyhow so if it hasn't been done think about it. NEVER clamp the hoses leading to any brake caliper or rear brakes.
