2004 chevy S-10 front axle

Front axle will not come out of the differential.Ive tried hammer and a block of wood,prying and even a slide hammer.

you have to take the whole carrier assembly out and split the case in order to get the gear out.

Is that normal on this model? The manual says it should pop out somehow.

it won't pop out until you split the case. Are you sure you don't have afull size truck? Or is this a colorado and not a s-10 i'm sending a picure along aand if you have this type of axle then you have a colorado and not a S-10. S-10 doesn't have this frt axle in it. Both front axles shafts have to be removed inorder to get the carrier out. As well as the bolts holdint eh bearing caps in place.
