When I went to start up my car this morning I had a whining noise coming from the engine bay. My power steering fluid was low so I added some. After adding the fluid the car stopped whining while just idling, but it continued to whine while I accelerated or turned the wheel sharp. Can this be because I let the fluid get so low, or could there be a problem with the pump itself?
