Transmission problem

I was driving my 04 chevy malibu on friday night, all of the sudden it started smoking really bad. i got to a gas station and 90% of the Trans fluid poured out... any ideas on where it came from and how to fix the problem... I replaced the tranny filter and gasket last night but i did not want to put oil in it til i got some type of knowlage of what was going on... please help

Check the transmission cooler on the radiator and lines back to the tranny/check the tranny dipstick/tube

the oil is leaking from the axel point.... leading to tire so i need to know how to tighten down that point
