What you need to do is go to a parking lot where there is a Jeep, take your picture with it, and send it to him. then he'll let you alone. (lol)

Okay, if the belt is tight, the alt is good, and the battery is good, there is what is called a fuseable link. It is a wire that is designed to melt, like a fuse, if too much power is sent through it. If it is bad, power from the alternator can not make it to the battery.

It doesn't look like a fuse. It is actually a wire. The wire, like a fuse, is designed to melt when too much power is sent through it.

The starter is in the front of the engine. It is near the top of the oil pan (level). It bolts to the transmission bell housing.

I wish you were my mom. Ha... Let us know what is going on with the car. Remember, a fuseable link looks like a regular wire. When you locate it, gently pull on it to see if the insulation on the wire stretches at any point. If it does, it is bad.

That will cause the problem. If you go to our homepage under the DIY section, you will find belt routing diagrams. Then you will see how it should be. If you have any trouble, let me know.

Paula, was the belt on anything? As far as the belt, you should have an automatic belt tensionier. It will pivot one direction to loosen the belt then automatically return to tighten the belt.

No it looks more like the first diagram the belt isn't as big as the one in the diagram. ..but the car is a 4 cylinder. The pulleys are set up like this.1 grooved by the alt,1grooved underneath in the front,1 big grooved on the bottom towards the backside on the bottom & then the smooth 1 is under next to the one by the alt

Paula, the first pic I sent was for the 4 cyl. Review the video I sent. It shows how to work the self adjuster. It turns on a pivot. Like CJ said, if you upload a pic, we will have a better shot at helping you. Honestly, the worst part is installing the new belt down low.

Let me know what you need.
Joe
PS: If you haven't watched the video, do so. I think it will help.
