the heater direction is not changing. It is stuck on vent and floor. I need it on Defrost and floor more than anything. The knob is turnubg the shaft inside but thats it. What & how is the best way to switch the to defrost even if its a permanent fixs???

That should be operated by an electric actuator on the driver's side of the box. The issue could be in the control head, the actuator or something mechanical inside the box.
