2004 cavalier heat controls

Controls are not placing air in proper vents. For instance the vent setting places air out the floor heat vents. The control **** doesn't turn freely, it seems as if something is kinked up.

to really fix this the heater unit has to come out of the dash.the cable is binding or the actuator isn't working or the door is stuck inside. it's not fun and takes a while to do this as you may have to pull the dash out and recharge the a/c
