can I swap engines

Will a 5.3L engine match up with my transmission if I have a 8.1L engine now. What will I have to change other than the computer. I blew my engine and would like to know if I can put in a different engine due to no one has an 8.1L on this island.

they may be the same bolt pattern but you will have to change the torque converter along with computer and hookups. You will need a complete engine assembly. this is really more work than you think it is due to different connectors and where they go for different engine sizes. Either look into getting yours rebuilt or one from a junkyard. not knowing where yo are you can go to www.junkyardog.com an you will receive several replies when you turn your info in within days. i'm sure it can be shipped to you in a reasonable time.
