The oil pressure guage goes to 0 in the red range of the guage when you drive about 10 minutes. This has been going on for about a month now. I have a 04 chevy avalanche 61,000 miles. No other lights come on and engine temp is normal and I hear no lifters tapping in the engine. Is the oil pump going bad?

Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge,if normal replace the oil pressure switch. If abnormal could mean oil pump and engine bearing.

I think it is the oil switch is this the same thing as the oil sensor. Anyway I think it must be the switch because I have been driving in the 0 range on the pressure guag for over a month now.
