on a 2004 srx how do you get to the right front turn signal light bulb to replace it?

At a minimum, you need to remove the wheelhouse extension to expose the back of the fog/turn lamp assembly. It is the front plastic portion(black) retained to the fascia by push-pin retainers. The service procedure states to remove the front fascia. This does make accessing the lamps easier, but it is not an absolute necessity. The back portion of the lamp housing is held to the front(lens) portion with screws, I believe 7mm hex head. It can be trivial to access all screws in place, but can be done.
