My 2004 325i gas needs reads that there is a just a bit under quarter tank left (between empty and quarter left), and the computer reads that there is another 100 km until it needs to be filled, then all of a sudden while driving the vehicle starts to jerk as the RPMs go up and down and the car begins to slow down and shut off. I tried starting it but it won't start. After putting some gas in the tank with some back up that I had in the trunk it starts up fine and runs to the gas station where I can fill up.
I experimented a few times before and it does the same thing around the same needle readings. Once gas is put in it runs fine.
I am not sure what the problem could be. Could it be the fuel filter with the pressure regulator, or a fuel injector? There are no lights on the dash, and car runs pretty smooth over all.
