Is it possible to trace the registration history of a car if someone wants the history to "disapear"? I bought a used car 8/09, and in 11/10 discovered flood damage.

I would say that the servicing workshop may have information on past owners, if your service book has been kept up to date this may be an avenue, but privacy acts may limit any access to this information.

BMW does have the history of any work performed at the dealership or under warranty in the dealer communication system, as Mark stated, there may be some legal wrangling to do.
