Hi I have a e46 325ti compact sport. I dont nw why but my car is showing on the trip computer i am doing 8 mpg when i bought it, it was doing around 25-27mpg why would this be? the car is a 2004 plate.

Is it really getting eight miles to the gallon? Or is it just the display is reading 8mpg?

HI,

Yeah its really doing 8mpg this morning it went down to 7.6mpg. also there is a strong smell of petrol that comes from the vents. Also I have looked to see if i can see petrol leaking but no signs on the floor. The car seems fine when driving but the petrol keeps going quick.

The car may need to have your BMW tech look into this issue. There are so many things that could be causing poor fuel economy from a plugged air filter to lack of proper maintenance that time and space here makes impractical.
