The temperture gauge oscilates between 1/4 and 1/2. is this normal or could it be a problem?

the oscilating doesnt seem to be related to strain on engine.

all the time? or just after engine warms up? may be air in system or an electrical/gauge/sender/thermostat problem.

all the time. seems to take its time to warm up and then randomly drops down to 1/4 and back

i'd try thermostat first.
