My mechanic just told me I need to replace my inner CV joints on my 2004 Audi A4. I HAVE been hearing a squealing from under neath car. He said something about it being non-servicable. Estimate for parts and labor: $1600. Sounds high to me. Reasonable or not?

Is that for both Axles to replace? What's your zip code so I can get you accurate quote in your area? Most of the time its more cost effective to replace the whole axle rather then a joint or boot.

Yes, both. I'm at 75080. And yes, this was for the entire axle.

I see labor price of about 177.00 don't see a parts price in my estimator program. But auto zone has the axles for like 200 for both. So doesn't sound reasonable for the repair. Maybe there using Audi factory axles that would explain the really high estimate.
