If there's still sound from the unit, the back-lighting for the display has stopped working. That uses a complicated internal power supply to run the high voltage bulb. The manufacturers have decided to stop allowing us to buy radio service manuals so you are tied to the dealer and their highly-overpriced repair centers. They will not repair the unit by replacing just the defective components like we do in tv and vcr repair. They just pop in a new circuit board. That costs a real lot more for the parts but the chance of overlooking a part that hasn't failed yet but is about to is eliminated. Often those new boards have modifications or updates to address common problems or to increase the reliability.
