2003 Volvo XC90 - After I start the car, my clock just starts to spin hours and hours and eventually stops. This is sometimes in conjunction with my tripometer resetting back to 0, but sometimes my tripometer stays put. Does this sound like something replacing the ignition barrel would remedy?

No it does not? You could be having an issue with the instrument cluster itself? Take it to Volvo for proper diagnosis? If it is the instrument cluster, they would need to program the new cluster to the vehicle.
